Inpatient Rehabilitation Center Receives Three-Year CARF Accreditation
Eisenhower Inpatient Rehabilitation Center is proud to announce that it has received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Currently, Eisenhower Medical Center is the only hospital in Riverside County with the prestigious CARF Accreditation.
This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to Eisenhower Medical Center’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Center — a significant accomplishment for its first year in operation.
The accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation CARF can award an organization. It demonstrates that the Center has not only met and exceeded an international standard of care, but also is committed to continuously improving its services, encouraging feedback from patients and stakeholders, and serving the community.
In order to receive the three-year accreditation, the Center participated in a rigorous peer review process during a recent on-site visit, meeting CARF’s nearly 1,200 standards in its service areas and business practices. These areas included policies and procedures, quality of care indicators, financial processes, safety, and emergency plans and procedures.
Additionally, staff competencies and training, human resource processes, risk management, performance measurements and overall goals of the unit were reviewed. The comprehensive survey included interviews with outside stakeholders and current and prior patients.
“To have achieved CARF certification in our first year is an incredible accomplishment, representing very hard work and commitment by our staff,” says Michael Weinstein, MD, Medical Director of Eisenhower Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. “A hospital can have a rehabilitation unit that offers great care, but not every hospital can earn CARF accreditation.”
Dr. Weinstein adds, “Besides aspiring to provide the best rehabilitation services in the region, an active process to improve patient care and outcomes as well as patient satisfaction is now in place.”
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.
