Happy Holidays from Eisenhower Medical Center!
We wish you a healthy holiday season! As the weather (finally!) gets cooler and we enter the winter months, flu season is upon us! The Center for Disease Control states, “The timing of flu is very unpredictable and can vary from season to season. Flu activity most commonly peaks in the U.S. in January or February. Give yourself a holiday present – a flu shot. Eisenhower provides flu shots at our Urgent Care clinics. Eisenhower Medical Center recently welcomed the first three medical students (two from the Keck School of Medicine of USC and a third from Ross University School of Medicine) choosing to undertake their cardiology clerkships in the desert.
“A cardiology clerkship introduces third- and fourth-year medical students to the clinical realm of this specialty,” says Andrew Rubin, MD, Director of Cardiac Research and the Pacemaker Clinic at Eisenhower Desert Cardiology Center. “During their first two years of medical school, they take basic classes in anatomy, physiology, histology and biochemistry. In their third year, they begin clinical rotations with patients with pumping hearts.” click for more
Golfer Troy Kelly - Getting His Game Back

It wasn’t just about his golf game. For Troy Kelly, it was a quality of life issue.
As a professional on the PGA tour, Kelly was used to pushing his body to the limit. So as the pain advanced, the golfer thought perhaps he had pulled a muscle or done something to tweak his hip.
Then, in 2010, after playing only 10 tournaments on the Nationwide Tour, the pain became so unbearable that Kelly limped away from the links. That’s when the 34-year-old La Quinta resident turned to Adrian Graff-Radford, MD a founding partner of Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center. click for more
DATES

For some reason, dates cannot seem to get the respect they deserve. People either love them or, well…don’t. It’s time to revisit the common notions about the tiny, nutrition-packed date and sample the dizzying variety available right here in the Valley.
Among the most ancient of fruits, date palms grew along the Nile as early as fifth century B.C. Date palms came to this region via Morocco and approximately 95 percent of the dates produced in the United States are grown in the Coachella Valley. click for more
