11th Annual Community Cancer Awareness Day
- The 11th Annual Community Cancer Awareness Day will be held at the Lucy Curci Cancer Center on Saturday, March 08 2014 from 09:00AM to 12:00PM.
Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center presents the 11th Annual Community Cancer Awareness Day in recognition of March as Colorectal Cance Awareness Month.
Featuring Brenda Elsagher — Bringing Laughter with a Message
Eisenhower’s 11th Annual Community Cancer Awareness Day will take place at the Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center on Saturday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. The lecture and special presentation will take place in the Berger Auditorium.
A welcome and continental breakfast begin at 9 a.m. in the Healing Gardens. At 9:30 a.m., a lecture and panel discussion — Focus on Colon Cancer: Risk Factors, Prevention and the Latest Treatment Options — will be presented by Eisenhower Board-Certified physicians Gastroenterologist James Conti, MD, Colorectal Surgeon Scott Gering, MD, Radiation Oncologist Robert Johnson, MD, and Medical Oncologist Henry Tsai, MD.
From 10:45 a.m. to noon, guest speaker and colorectal cancer survivor and comedienne, Brenda Elsagher shares her compelling story through humor, wit and compassion: Bringing Laughter with a Message. The author of four books, including, If the Battle is Over, Why am I Still in Uniform and Bedpan Banter, Elsagher is a storyteller who “guarantees laughter.” The Minnesotan has won several awards, including the Twin Cities Funniest Person contest and the American Cancer Society’s Golden Mic Award. Elsagher will make you laugh, possibly make you cry, but always leave you hopeful and with a smile on your face.
The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
