A Tribute to Eisenhower Nurses

In 1982, the United States Congress designated May 6 to be “National Recognition Day for Nurses.”

Expanded to a full week in 1990 by the American Nursing Association, the celebration begins on May 6 and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of present day nursing.

Nurses: Strength, Commitment, Compassion is the theme for the 2006 National Nurses Week. Eisenhower nurses exemplify strength, commitment and compassion every day. To celebrate, honor and say “thank you” to our dedicated and giving nurses, Eisenhower Medical Center will celebrate with a special coffee cart, gifts, massages, acupuncture treatments, throughout the week, for all nurses at Eisenhower. Eisenhower Medical Center acknowledges with profound gratitude the personal and professional contributions nurses make each day to excellence in health care at Eisenhower, and honors their deeply caring and compassionate spirits.
