The American Cancer Society’s Epidemiology Research Program is inviting men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 who have no personal history of cancer to participate. The ultimate goal is to enroll at least 300,000 adults from various racial/ethnic backgrounds from across the United States. The purpose of CPS-3 is to better understand the lifestyle, behavioral, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer and to ultimately eliminate cancer as a major health problem for this and future generations.
Participation is easy and enrollment in the desert area is available at three locations. Once you schedule your appointment, you will receive instructions on how to complete your first, most comprehensive survey online. This survey will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.
Your onsite enrollment will take approximately 20-30 minutes and will involve:
- Completing a short survey packet
- Signing a consent form
- Providing a waist circumference measurement
- Providing a small blood sample (similar to a doctor’s visit).
Enrollment at Eisenhower Medical Center will take place on November 12 and 15 at the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences. For more details and to schedule your appointment, visit www.cps3palmsprings.org
Following enrollment, you will receive mailed surveys at home every few years to update your information. You will also receive annual study newsletters to update you on research results.
