Performance Excellence Rewards and Recognition

Performance Excellence at Eisenhower is driven by five teams that consist of employees and members of the Executive Leadership Team. The five teams concentrate their efforts on meeting the Performance Excellence goals in Communications, Leadership Development, Patient Loyalty, Physician Loyalty and Rewards and Recognition. Each team maintains ongoing programs to reward and recognize the achievements of the staff of Eisenhower Medical Center.

  • Jackie Lee Houston Shining Star: This program rewards individuals that go above and beyond their job responsibilities in exemplifying one of the five supporting commitments. These commitments are Safety, Clinical Excellence, Courtesy & Caring, Healing Environment and Efficiency. Nominees are invited to a breakfast in the Annenberg Dining Room with members of ELT and hospital directors. The winners are announced and receive a certificate, pin, gift card and their picture placed on Ikenet and next to Café 34.

  • Pat-on-the-Back: This program offers directors, supervisors and managers a way to provide 'instant recognition' to employees. The program provides a thank-you card with a $3 IkeDollar which can be redeemed at any campus eatery or the gift shop.

  • Employee Longevity: This program recognizes employees starting with 5 years of service, and every five years thereafter. Each employee receives a Certificate of Recognition for their years of service, a lapel pin, and a gift of their choice from a wide selection of gift options.

  • Holiday Celebration: The committee sponsors a holiday celebration in December for employees, physicians, patients and guests in Café 34. The celebration is held at three separate meal times. It includes a holiday meal and an employee raffle with gifts sponsored by the Medical Staff.

  • Monthly Birthday Celebration: The committee celebrates employee birthdays once a month in Café 34. Each employee receives an invitation to the monthly celebration. The committee provides birthday cake and punch.

  • One-Year Anniversary Cards: At the conclusion of their first year of service, employees are mailed an anniversary card thanking them for their service to Eisenhower.

  • Hospital Week: During May, the committee sponsors events to celebrate the nationwide hospital week.

  • Employee Longevity Banquet: This event recognizes employees starting with 10 years of service, and every five years thereafter. This event takes place shortly after Hospital Week.

Other Committee Programs

In addition to the above recognition programs managed by the Rewards and Recognition committee, the Physician Loyalty committee manages the physician recognition program. Leaders are encouraged to recognize and celebrate their department’s professional recognition day, week and/or month during the year. To promote these recognitions campus-wide the Communications team publishes professional recognition on our intranet "IkeNet" and in our "Five Star Outlook" newsletter.
