Eisenhower Smilow Heart Center and The American Heart Association Sponsor
On February 4, Eisenhower Smilow Heart Center and the American Heart Association presented the Ninth Annual Community Heart Conference. Held at the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and open to the public, the free conference featured keynote speaker Philip Shaver, MD, Board Certified Cardiologist and recipient of the Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary’s 2011 Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Shaver discussed From Tragedy to Triumph — 40 Years of Treating Acute Myocardial Infarction.
The conference included a full day of lectures, demonstrations on various topics about heart disease and stroke (delivered by physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals), and tabletop displays offering information on topics ranging from nutrition, exercise, cholesterol and blood pressure, to signs of a heart attack, and sex and heart disease.
