Eisenhower Receives $1 Million
Forty local desert charities were infused in April with a tournament-record $2,045,000 in donations raised from the January 2012 Humana Challenge PGA TOUR golf tournament. The tournament, formerly known as the Bob Hope Classic, has now donated $52 million in 53 years to desert organizations.
As is the tradition for the tournament, Eisenhower Medical Center was the recipient of the largest check, $1 million. “It is humbling to receive this kind of check in a room full of charities that are in such great need,” says Michael Landes, President, Eisenhower Medical Center Foundation. “We accept this with great honor. The arrival of Humana Challenge and the Clinton Foundation to the tournament has given the desert and its charities great inspiration in times of a sluggish economy that is hurting all charities.”
Desert Classic Charities assisted the Humana Foundation with distribution of $545,000 to 39 other charities ranging from children’s organizations to rehabilitation centers and social service groups to organizations that provide food and shelter to those in need.
