About the Program

The Eisenhower Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program is a unique program which will provide the foundation for your professional career as a family physician. Founded in 2011, our Family Medicine Program is designed with a mission to train exceptional future family physicians with a vibrant learning environment, while learning and providing "Health Care As It Should Be."

Family Medicine residents experience the benefits of the highest quality medical training delivered in an environment of teamwork and personal attention. The program's medium size (8-8-8) allows each resident to become an essential member of the team, building genuine camaraderie between residents and attendings.

Our goal is to train residents with the broad spectrum of skills required of a family physician, but more importantly, residents will achieve the ability to become expert self-learners as they develop their breadth as family physicians in our changing health system.

Family Medicine residents at Eisenhower Medical Center receive broad-based preparation that includes not only standard clinical procedures, but also training in ethics, geriatrics, obstetrical care, sports medicine, and occupational and preventive medicine. We fully endorse and emphasize the Core Competencies as described by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), which are Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Professionalism, Systems-Based Practice, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, and Interpersonal and Communication Skills.

We seek physicians who are humanistic, caring, well rounded and desire to serve in the culturally diverse population of the Coachella Valley. Our new residency program provides a myriad of opportunities for leadership development as we expect our new Family Medicine residents will participate in our program evolution.

Program Strengths

Our fully accredited residency program focuses on producing family physicians who are expert in the management of common and complex health problems, with a strong orientation toward leadership in community health care and delivery.

Our faculty's special interests reflect the diversity of the Coachella Valley community. Integrative medicine, international health initiatives, minority health, and urban medicine all play against a backdrop of community activism.  These passions, along with the resources and rich academic environment of the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California contribute to the strong academic and clinical training offered in our three-year program.

Family Medicine is constantly evolving and complex. Our mission, however, is simple. We provide the best learning environment to maximize the residents' opportunity to achieve their full potential in practicing the highest quality, comprehensive family medicine in caring for our patients - one patient, one family at a time.
