Eisenhower Makes Nations’s BEST List for Orthopedic Programs

Recently, Becker’s Hospital Review published its list of 100 hospitals with great orthopedic programs including Eisenhower Medical Center — the only Coachella Valley hospital to make the list.

According to Becker’s website, the hospitals included on this list are national leaders in orthopedic care, having received recognition for excellence from various publications, industry-leading organizations and accrediting organizations.

To develop this list, the Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team examined several rankings and awards available for excellence in orthopedic care, including U.S. News & World Report rankings for orthopedics and ratings for hip and knee replacement, CareChex® rankings for orthopedic care and orthopedic surgery, Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction® Centers for hip and knee replacement, Joint Commission certification and Magnet® accreditation.

According to CareChex’s 2017 rankings, Eisenhower Medical Center is ranked #18 in California for orthopedic care and has been recognized as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement, and U.S. News & World Report rated it as high performing in hip and knee replacement for 2016-17.

Eisenhower Makes BEST List for Knee and Hip Replacements

Eisenhower Medical Center was recently recognized as one of the top 97 hospitals in the United States for outcomes following joint replacement surgery, according to a survey by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Of the 97 hospitals surveyed, Eisenhower is one of only eight California hospitals listed who performed better than average in avoiding readmissions.

The measured outcomes were based on Medicare data on how well patients fare after hip and knee replacement surgeries. The two outcome categories were readmissions after surgery and complications following surgery, such as a blood clot, infection, problem with the artificial joint or death. In judging hospitals, Medicare evaluated cases between July 2009 and June 2012.
