Spinal Care Program
Eight out of 10 people will experience back pain at some point in their lives. Personal responsibility and prevention measures are the two most important means to good spinal health and a productive life. Also important is the ability to keep a positive attitude as well as being open to learning new ways to lift and move properly, handle household and job related materials, eliminate excess stress and body weight, strengthen weakened muscles, listen to the feedback your body is giving and use good posture (including neutral spine techniques) in all ones daily activities.
The Rehabilitation Services department at Eisenhower employs specially trained therapists who treat the most complex of spine patients, beginning with the acute phase and progressing to full return to normal activities. Neutral spine and spinal stabilization techniques, as well as specially designed posture and body mechanics educational programs, are employed with other modalities to maximize each patient's outcomes.
Beginning in the acute inpatient department and progressing through the outpatient services department and return to work or normal function, each patient is individually assessed and set up on a treatment program to address their individual needs.
The Spinal Care Program at Eisenhower is offered in the Dolores Hope Outpatient Care Center the La Quinta Physical and Occupational Therapy Center and the Palm Springs Physical Therapy Center. A physician's prescription with a diagnosis is required. An initial appointment can be made by calling or walking in to the department. If faxing the prescription, please include the patient's telephone number so that an appointment may be scheduled. Following the initial evaluation by a licensed therapist, additional appointments will be made based on medical necessity. Treatment here at Eisenhower Medical Center's Rehabilitation Services Department is covered by most insurances.
