    W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center

The W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center is a little known California treasure, and with the other amenities available on the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly) campus, makes a perfect Sunday getaway.

The Center was created when cereal magnate W.K. Kellogg donated his Pomona ranch to the state of California in 1949 with several conditions. He wanted the property to be used for educational purposes and to maintain the tradition of the Arabian Horse Shows that he began in 1926 to demonstrate the beauty and versatility of the animals.

Today, the Center is home to more than 100 Arabian horses, some of which are descendants of Kellogg’s original team. The horses, which are ridden by Cal Poly staff and students, perform for more than 11,000 guests each year.

The Arabian Horse Center occupies 38 acres of pasture and is internationally recognized for its breeding and training programs. The facility also has three barns, foaling stalls, a breeding area, a veterinary clinic, farrier (equine hoof care specialist) shop, four arenas, an equine research center, the Kellogg Arabian Horse Library and an 800-seat grandstand.

Kelly Pina, Administrative Support Coordinator of the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, encourages visitors to the Center to make a day of it by visiting other campus attractions.
