2008 PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR
Philip J. Shaver, MD, FACC
Every month, Eisenhower Medical Center employees recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of the Center’s medical staff by awarding a physician the Eisenhower Physician of the Month Award. A number of factors are considered: outstanding patient care, exceptional leadership, dedication to teamwork and mentorship of staff, contributions to the community, and an unwavering commitment to excellence at Eisenhower.
At the end of each year, the hospital staff selects one physician from the monthly award winners as the Eisenhower Medical Center Physician of the Year. For 2008, Eisenhower selected cardiologist Philip J. Shaver, MD, FACC to receive this prestigious honor. The award was announced and presented to Dr. Shaver on March 30, 2009.
Dr. Shaver has been a cardiologist at Eisenhower for more than 30 years. “It is our obligation to share with and mentor our colleagues so they may benefit from what we have learned, and from the experience we have obtained. To keep the passion in what we do, keep on learning. We are fortunate to be in a profession that requires lifelong learning,” stated Dr. Shaver, accepting the award. “Then, share what you know.
