    Receives Fellowships

    Eisenhower Medical Center physician Richard A. Stone, MD, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Hypertension, received two distinctions this year: Fellowship in the American Society of Nephrology (FASN) and Fellowship in the American Society of Hypertension.

    Ronald Falk, MD, FASN, President of the American Society of Nephrology, congratulated Dr. Stone for “achieving a distinct level of excellence in clinical or investigative nephrology or pathology, ongoing postgraduate education and in providing a continuing service to the Society and/or community.”

    A regular contributor to the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Biological Chemistry and The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Dr. Stone was the first to describe platinum nephrotoxicity (Cancer 1976) and the role of renin in Scleroderma Kidney (American Journal of Medicine). Dr. Stone has also been a prolific investigator in human hypertension and published one of the first early studies (with James DeLeo, Ph.D) on the effects of Transcendental Meditation when used for hypertension in the New England Journal of Medicine.
