Visiting Hours and Policies

Visiting Hours and policies

Visiting hours vary depending on the level of care you require. To protect your health, friends and relatives who are ill should not come to the hospital to visit you. No children under 14 years of age may visit patients unless special arrangements have been made.

Patients may otherwise designate and receive visitors of their choosing, if they have decision making capacity, whether or not the visitor is related by blood or marriage, including, but not limited to, a spouse, a domestic partner (including same sex domestic partner), another family member, or a friend, and can withdraw or deny that consent at any time. There is no restriction, limitation or otherwise denial of visitation privileges based on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

If you have needs that are not within the guidelines listed below, your family and nurse will establish an individualized plan.

  • Acute care visiting hours are 1 to 8 p.m., with no more than two visitors in a room at a time.
  • Intensive Care visiting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to midnight, with no more than two visitors in a room at a time. Visiting is individualized by nurses according to patients' needs. Open heart surgery patients in Intensive Care are visited during lunch and dinner through the first post-operative day.
  • Pediatrics Unit visiting hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Parents may visit 24 hours a day. A sleeping chair can be provided for a parent who wants to spend the night with his or her child.
